As part of an individual acceptance of a sports exhaust system without flap, it is always possible in individual cases to obtain an inlet. As a result, stationary noise can also be slightly increased, since there is a tolerance value of 5 decibels. However, it is no longer possible to increase stationary noise with new flap exhaust systems, since a CE approved system must comply with the volume specified by the manufacturer in the vehicle registration document. Only with flap systems, which were installed before the deadline, can an increase in stationary noise still be legally achieved. A CE approved system is not actually intended to be written into the vehicle registration document, some TÜV inspectors enter it, but it makes no legal difference if you have registered it or if you carry the note with CE approval. As soon as you change other things on the vehicle, you must ask for full acceptance, for example if you change the manifolds and air filters.
But there aren`t really many legal alternatives on the market. Here a combination ratio is made, in which the noise values are measured in conjunction with the exhaust system. And if you are lucky, the limit values are strictly adhered to. Otherwise, effort, effort and money were in vain. You can measure the result yourself with a dBmeter. But keep your hands out of cheap deals. If you want the right value, a calibrated measuring device is inevitable. In terms of price, however, the good measuring instruments in the database easily fall within the four-digit range. An electronically controlled exhaust valve is just as legal as diesel exhaust gas cleaning, which can be deactivated: in precisely defined situations, the flap and diesel meet the requirements. In real life, these situations are rarer than expected.
They are limited to speeds of about 50 km/h in a certain gear when accelerating completely or at constant speed.
